Karen Chia is a Los Angeles-based communications and speech
trainer with vast experience in social media, communications,
public relations, publicity and promotions in the hospitality,
real estate and broadcast industries. In the last decade, Karen
has taken her real-world communications expertise into the
classroom, bringing textbooks to life.

         As a corporate executive, Karen had to deal with a wide range of events from the

IMFWorld Bank meetings to the Youth Olympic Games that tapped on her
communications skills. From presentations to professionals, students and children, to
handling large crowds and emceeing ministerial events, she had to think on her feet
to come up with fast solutions. She has also dealt with one-on-one communications at
all levels within a corporate and boardroom structure - with the media, CEOs and
clients. Her experience with Singapore’s leading broadcaster MediaCorp and at Class
95FM have given her an edge into the fast-paced world of entertainment, news and
current affairs.

As a publicist and consultant to a variety of companies and non-profit organisations,
Karen continues to help others communicate their messages effectively, and
endeavours to transfer her interpersonal skills to students in a fun-filled environment.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Arkansas, USA
and a Professional Certificate in Communication Skills from London’s Trinity College.
She is also certified to teach EQ4KIDZ and Jolly Phonics, a program from International
Centre for Excellence in Perth, Australia.

She has participated in workshops and forums, including a Public Speaking Bootcamps
and the Dale Carnegie Training for Public Speaking Mastery conducted by renowned
industry leaders in Los Angeles and New York, USA.

Karen conducts public speaking, communications and confidence building skills
classes; and has taught hundreds of students preparing for the LAMDA Speaking in
Public programmes, with many attaining distinctions. She also prepares students for
the crucial PSLE Oral examinations.

She has a passion for bringing out the passive and introducing the joy of speaking to
children to help them interact with others confidently and effectively.
